Announcement from MISU

"In the event of no Union members running for a sabbatical position, Union Council can nominate a non-Union person to run for the post in a subsequent by-election, subject to seeking advice from the Advisory Committee" - Article 11.3.6, MISU Constitution. As no members of Mary I Students’ Union put themselves forward to run for the position of Vice-President in the
By-Election which was scheduled to take place on Thursday 4th October, Union Council, at their meeting on 10.10.2018, implemented Article 11.3.6 of the MISU Constitution and they nominated Alison Dervan (former MISU Vice-President 2015/2016) to stand in a by-election for MISU Vice-President for the 2018/2019 Academic Year. This By-Election will take place on Tuesday 23rd October 2018 on both the Limerick and Thurles Campuses.

By-Election for Vice President

As the position of MISU Vice-President is now vacant, a By-Election will take place for Vice-President. As approved by Union Council, nominations for the position of Vice President will open on Friday 28th of September and close on Tuesday 2nd of October at 12pm.

Mary I Graduating Teachers; would you consider starting your teaching career within a Catholic School in Great Britain? If so, we still have some fantastic opportunities for roles starting in September 2018 in Primary Catholic Schools throughout the Midlands. All of these schools have been graded either ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted and have strong support mechanisms in place for Newly Qualified Teachers.

We are currently working in partnership with Head Teachers across 5 Catholic Schools within the Arch Diocese of Birmingham to appoint 7 teachers from September 2018. Two of the appointing Head Teachers are former Mary I graduates. These include:

4 Primary School Teachers (Key Stage 1 & Early Years / Lower School)
3 Primary School Teachers (Key Stage 2 / Upper School)


All vacancies are live as of the 12th June 2018.
