The Mary Immaculate College Choral Society has been in existence for most of the last century and has sung at many venues throughout the country including the National Concert Hall in Dublin. In 1998 they won first prize for Best Limerick Choir at the Church Music International Choral Festival in Limerick. Recent highlights include performances of Haydn’s Heiligmesse, Mozart’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Choral Symphony (with the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland) and Mendelssohn’s Elijah in a joint venture with the Limerick Choral Union & Orchestra in the University Concert Hall Limerick. They performed Puccini’s Gloria on April 12th 2008, also in a joint venture with the Limerick Choral Union & Orchestra in the University Concert Hall Limerick. The Choral Society has over 50 members drawn from students, staff and graduates of the college and is conducted by Gareth Cox, head of the Department of Music.
