The Purpose of Clubs & Socs Council
Things to Remember
The purpose of Clubs & Socs Council:
• To facilitate the organisation of Clubs & Socs Day in both Semester 1 and 2
• To facilitate the establishment of committee member elections
• To establish times, dates and places of Training
• To give any reports due to the Clubs & Societies Officer
• To ensure that all club/society events are run smoothly
Things to remember!
At least two committee members from each club/ soc MUST attend each Clubs & Socs Council. Clubs/Societies may choose to nominate two people to represent it at Council meetings at the start of the semester or choose the two committee members before each Council meet. Non-attendance at Clubs & Socs Council will jeopardise club/ society funding.
The Administration Committee will impose a fine of €50 on each individual club/ society if they fail to send at least one member to each Clubs & Socs Council Meeting. A club/ society may be exempt from attending one meeting in the academic year. However, an apology has to be sent to the Students Union prior to 4:30pm on the day of the meeting to avail of this exemption. All meetings shall be governed, by the Standing Orders as outlined, in Schedule One of the Mary I Students Union Constitution.The Clubs & Societies Officer reserves the right to convene additional Clubs & Socs Council Meetings should they be deemed necessary. All such meetings must be organised with at least one academic or three non-academic weeks notice.
The Committee members in attendance at Council meetings MUST relay back to its own committee members the findings/ discussion/ policies of the Council.
