Welcome to the Exam Hub, here you will find everything you need to know about MIC Exams, this includes study tips, timetables, venues/seat numbers, results in information, and useful contacts.
Exams are a main factor of college life and play a part in determining your overall degree when you reach the end of your course. Some students will have multiple exams in each semester over their 3/4 years at MIC, and others will only ever complete a couple of exams. There are many other ways that MIC can assess students, this includes assignments, presentations, portfolios, reports, etc. How you will be assessed in each module you take, will clearly be laid out in your Module Outline. It is really important to familiarise yourself with your Module Outline, as this outlines what is expected of you and how you will be assessed. Module Outlines are normally on Moodle, but you should check with your lecturer/module coordinator if you are unsure.

MIC students can have 'exams' at varying points of the semester, as some modules host 'classroom exams/in-class assessments', however, the majority of exams are scheduled during Weeks 14 and 15 of each semester. How and when your exam will take place, will be again detailed in your Module Outline.

When will we find out our Examination schedules?
If you are to have an exam during the semester, it should be outlined in your Module Outline and the date will be confirmed by your lecturer/module coordinator. For exams during the Examination period, provisional timetables are released during Weeks 8 & 9. It is really important that you keep an eye on your Examination Timetable, as there can be multiple changes before the timetable is declared final. It is the responsibility of YOU to make sure that you have the most up-to-date timetable. Timetables are normally available here.
If you spot a problem with the timetable or two of your modules are clashing, tell the SU or Student Academic Administration ASAP, do not assume someone else will.
The main thing to note before any exam is not to stress! We know that can be easier said than done, but it is really important that you make a study plan, get plenty of rest and keep hydrated. The more you look after yourself, the better prepared you will be for your exam. In terms of what to do on the day before or the day of your exam, take a look at the below checklist.
What happens if I cannot find my MIC Student ID Card?
Don't panic! This happens to a lot of people. If you have lost your ID Card during the semester - REPLACE IT before it comes to Examination time, this will save you a lot of last-minute panics. However, we understand that ID Cards can be lost in the days leading up to exams. You need your ID Card as There is a sign-in system where students must swipe their ID cards through a machine before entering the exam hall. If you lose your card, you’ll have to get a new one from Student Academic Administration, which will set you back €10.
To request a replacement card, you need to email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and pay the fee here. If you require it URGENTLY, please head up to their office in the Foundation Building (Room 112). Students on the Thurles campus are advised to contact Paula Hourigan if they need a replacement card.
No ID card = No exam!
