Societies Awards!

Hello good folk of Mary Immaculate College. Thank you for calling into this small, cosy corner of cyber space. Sincere apologies about not getting in touch with you all for quite the time but I feel lovely assignments and equally lovely essays tend to get in the way of things sometimes! I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

This is just a wee update on the societies side of things in the college. The MICS Awards (formally known as Mary I Clubs and Societies Awards) will be happening on Monday 25th March. There will be six categories that your society can enter on the night; Best Club, Best Society, Best Event, Best Civic Contribution, Best Fresher and Best Poster. So if you think your society has the potential to win one of these categories (and I have no doubt that it does), follow the link below and simply fill out a form for your society. Happy days!

That's all for now but not before a parting joke:

Two fish are in a tank.

One turns to the other and says,

"Hey, how do you drive this thing?"

Over and out.

Clubs & Socs Blog: Week 12

Hi Guys!

Well, week 12 is upon us! Where has the time gone?

Study week, exams and then Christmas!!! Best of Luck to everyone in the exams. It can be a stressful time, so if your Club/Society can help you relax a bit, use it!

Clubs & Socs Blog 2

Hi Clubs & Socs members!

Week 7 already! Time is flying. We hope all your Clubs & Societies are going well for you. We had our first Clubs & Socs Council meeting which went well but there were a few no-shows. Each Club & Soc should have at least 2 members of their respective committee at the Clubs & Socs Councils. That is part of the MISU constitution. If need be however, this can be delegated to regular Club & Society members. In fact, each committee should use the regular members as much as possible. It involves more people in the day-to-day running of the Club/Soc and eases the burden on the committee members!

You can still set-up more Clubs & Socs if the interest is there. Just get a minimum of 20 names and away you go! Remember to fill out your budget forms and draw up a (brief) constitution.

A little birdie tells me that there may be something special to look forward to in Semester 2 but more about that later!

For now, enjoy yourselves and if there is anything we can do just drop down to us in the SU!

Bye 4 Now!

Clubs & Socs Say Hello!

Hi  Mary I! ‘Welcome!’ or ‘Welcome Back'!

Gearoid and Jaffa here and we are your Clubs and Societies Officers for 2011-2012.

We are the representatives on the Student Exec for all the Clubs and Socs in the College. Clubs and Socs help cater for the wide variety of interests that exist amongst MIC students. They are an excellent way to make new friends who share similar interests. This can be particularly important for First Year students but joining a Club or Society (or several!) can be of great benefit to any student in the College.

There are many Clubs that can help you stay (or get!) fit and some of the Societies may even help with your College studies like the History Society for example. Clubs and Socs are there to help you as MIC students to have the best College experience you can have. They are there to welcome you to the College and to make you feel part of it, to establish friendships and enjoy great nights out, to give you opportunities to express yourself in different ways and give you a chance to ‘unwind’ and relax.

As they say ‘All Work and No Play...!’.

Enjoy!
