It’s Great to be Back!!

Hey everyone, welcome back for another semester in Mary I and we hope it’s going to be the best one yet! For some of you it’s the last hurrah and for others, postgrads and Erasmus students, it’s the beginning of a new adventure. First of all for the new students we hope to get to know you over the coming weeks and don’t be afraid to drop us a line if you have any questions or queries.

Well done to all the fourth years who have handed in their FYPs, we know exactly how you feel and hopefully we’ll be able to join you in the celebrations when we finish ours in a couple of weeks time! This week is countdown to exam results and good luck to everybody. As we have mentioned in our previous blog there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding TP appeals so the students union will be compiling a FAQ on the appeals process.

An important public meeting run by the INTO, ASTI and TUI will take place next week in UL informing both primary and secondary teachers of their employment situation next year. It is imperative that student teachers are aware of any future legislation which may affect them. There will be buses running for free from the college so sign up in the SU.

While we were away on a Christmas break we were working hard on organising W.E. S.H.A.G. (Welfare Equality Sexual Health Awareness and Guidance week, phew!). We are in the process of planning loads of great events and if you have any ideas about what you would like to see during the week please give us an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The Rape Crisis Centre has also sent on some vital information about their helpline. The postershave been put up around the college, and the Rape Crisis helpline is 1800 77 88 88. And remember folks I know we say it again and again, talking is a sign of strength not of weakness www.pleasetalk.ie.
