It’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights…
I have to start this by saying that article has been inspired by last week’s X-Factor and the desire to write about something Disney based! So you may be thinking why I was inspired by the X-Factor and how can it possibly be related to Disney? Well, did ye see Olly Murs singing Dance with Me Tonight?
REM singing Furry Happy Monsters on Sesame Street! Okay this isn’t exactly the Muppets but Sesame Street was inspired by Jim Henson’s work! I think this video is brilliant! Happy, sad, happy, sad, happy and lots of bouncing!
2. Kenny Rogers singing the Gambler on the Muppet Show! I’ve always liked the Gambler, it’s quite a good song and I enjoy and I think this video does it justice!
3. A new Muppet movie is coming out early next year (that’s why the Muppets were on the X-Factor in the first place!) OK GO are an American band and they did their own version of the Muppet Show theme tune, Disney and the Jim Henson studios found them, approached them to do it for the movie and this comes as a result of that!
4. I don’t think I could be forgiven if I didn’t include this one! Two words: Mahna Mahna!
5. I think I might have saved the best til last! Remember Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen! Well the Muppets had an idea for a video and they approached Brian May seeking permission to use the song! Interesting fact: Brian May loved the concept so much that not only did he give them the rights to use it; he gave them the original backing track! The very first instrumental track that Queen recorded for Bohemian Rhapsody! No one outside of the band had ever heard it until the Muppets came along!
