Computer Services

Here are some handy tips for getting the best use out of the computer facilities in MIC.

If you have any problems, just ask any of the IT techs.

Choose a section:

 

E-mail

Step 2    Click on “Continue to this website (not recommended)"

Step 3    In the “Domain \ Username” box, enter your student ID or name, e.g. m1234567 or your john.smith. Enter your password in the “Password” box.

Step 4 Click on “Log On”

Email can now be accessed and viewed


Computer Labs

The Computer labs are located in G33 / G34 / G35 and G36

The Computer lab opening hours are from 9am to 10pm (Monday to Friday)

Our Computer Lab Assistants (CLAs) will be located in their office in G36 for any student queries.

 

Laptops

Our new laptop room is located in G36A

To use your laptop in the college, you will have to register with the Laptop Technician

 

Printing & Photocopying

The student printing system is based on your MIC ID card. Our CLAs will be more than happy to run through the working of the printing system with students.

If you need to photocopy, this can be done in 2 ways

Via your MIC ID card

Print cards which can be purchased via the Student’s Union

 

The Print Room

The Print Room is located in G01, across the hall from the Psychology Lab near main reception. They’re opening hours are: 9am – 12.45pm and 2pm - 4.30pm. The facilities on offer include laminating, printing, binding and photocopying.

 

Logging on to Student Computers

Username: M followed by id number, e.g. M0712345

Password: This will be made known at the beginning of term

Domain: Student

 

Access Student Notes (The LAN)

Click here for the details of how to access Student Notes from both on campus and from at home.

 

Scanning USB Keys

Open “My Computer” (START / MY COMPUTER)

Highlight the USB drive (e.g. E)

Right click on the drive and select  “Scan For Viruses”

The USB key will then be scanned for viruses

 

Importance Of Backing Up

You are responsible for your own files whether they are stored on the network or removable media e.g. USB key.  Remember to always keep more than one copy of your own work.
