Setting Up

Setting up a Club/ Society

- Contact  the Clubs & Societies Officer or Student's Union to discuss your ideas. We can help and will have all the information you need!

- Get a ‘New Club/ Society’ Application Form from Student's Union or download it from the forms section of this website
Choose a Name for your Club/ Society.

- Get a list of Founding Members Names (Must be at Least 20)

- Come and talk to either the Clubs & Societies Officer and request a table at the next Clubs & Societies Day where you can sign up lots of new members. Charge and collect €2 from each person who joins your club/society. Give the membership money to a member of the Students Union. This money will be added to your budget for the year.

- Call a preliminary meeting of the interested people-advertise this as much as possible to gain maximum interest. One of the objectives of this initial meeting is to plan events and activities for the year and to elect a committee who will work to bring your plans into action!

- Elect a Committee. You need a Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Treasurer, Public Relations Officer and an Ordinary Committee Member.

- Develop a Constitution. Each club/ society must have one. A sample Constitution is available from the Students Union or download it by clicking here.

- Attend Club & Socs Training

- Get your budget form either at the Training or before from the Student's Union or download it by clicking here.
Complete your budget form and drop it into the SU Office.

- Then put your plans into action. Always remember to ask for help if needed.

- Hold regular meetings, meet with Clubs & Societies Officer once a month, review your budget with the Student's Union as the year goes on, and evaluate your activities.

- Be realistic in terms of time and money when organising events and fundraising activities.

Good Luck!!!!!
