Taekwon-do is a Korean martial art. It is a mixture of sparring, traditional movements and self defence. This is the clubs fourth year in the running and it has been very successful. Weekly classes take place in Tailteann. The cost is just €2 per class for members of the club. Many members of the Taekwon-Do club have been brought to grading level through the weekly classes. They have taken part in Taekwon-Do competitions and brought home numerous medals and trophies to do the college proud! All levels are catered for and beginners are always welcome throughout the year. The Taekwon-Do club has also organised many other activities including pub quizzes and fight nights. They raise money for charity every year. The club was originally recognised as a society in MIC and in the academic year 06/07, the Taekwondo Society won Best Society in a small college at the BICS National Society Awards. Joining the Taekwon-Do club will give you fitness, flexibility, confidence and best of all new friends. Tae Kwon Do is great for the mind, body and soul. The student of Tae Kwon Do develops an unbeatable self-defence through rigid training and professional supervised instruction. In addition Tae Kwon Do builds dynamic tension and makes balanced use of a large number of body muscles.
