** MISU Returning Officer Investigation Report **

EDIT: The Returning Officer circulated his findings to both Mr. Hedigan and the 13 students who lodged complaints at 9am on Wednesday 4th April. All were advised that the Returning Officer’s ruling was subject to appeal as per article 11.8.2 of the MISU Constitution.

Appeals had to be lodged by 5pm on Friday 6th April 2018.

On Friday April 6th, Mr. Hedigan informed the Returning Officer that he was accepting the recommendations and he opted to step down as MISU President-Elect and re-run for the MISU Presidential Election under the provisos which the Retuning Officer had specified. Mr Hedigan did not challenge any aspect of the report or the sanctions which the Returning Officer had specified.

By 5pm on Friday 6th April, the Returning Officer’s recommendations were not appealed.

Last Thursday, the Award for Excellence evening was held on campus, recognising the achievements of 7 bursary winners and 3 Highly commended students. Also celebrated were the societies MIDAS and MIDANCE, for their recent wins at the National Board of Irish College Societies (BICS). The full press release and photos can be read here.

The following referendum was called on Thursday 1st of February 2018. It was called by the MISU Executive Team and approved by Union Council. The Referendum concerns MISU Constitutional changes with proposed additions and amendments that will improve how we run and improve your college experience. As the MISU Constitution is a set of rules made by the students of Mary I that tells MISU how to do its job, we need your permission to change them!

Voting takes place Thursday February 15th between 8.30am and 6.30pm on the Limerick campus and 10am to 11am on the Thurles campus.
