Hustings (Candidate Q & A)
Hustings (Candidate Q&A) is an opportunity for all MIC Students to put forward questions to the Candidates of Election before Voting takes place.
We encourage ALL MIC STUDENTS to get involved with Hustings, this is YOUR chance to ask questions about issues that are important to YOU.
MISU Returning Officer Róisín Burke hosted Hustings on Wednesday, 4th October for the MISU By-Election (October 2023).
The position up for election is that of the paid, part-time position of Postgraduate Officer and the part-time position of Welfare Officer.

The MISU Management Board provides advice and guidance to the MISU President, Vice-President (Sabbaticals), and the General Manager on strategic, management, operational, and corporate governance matters. The Board also ensures that the Sabbatical Officers are fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities and that any concerns about this are reported by the Chairperson of the Board to the Chairperson of the Union Council.
The Board is responsible for the development of and the direction of mid-term and long-term strategic plans of the MISU including oversight of the progress of the Union's Strategic Plan as well as the efficient use of MISU resources.

Each year, the student body elects a number of students to run in different officerships within the Students’ Union. These students make up the MISU Executive Committee (The Exec).
These officerships are President, Vice-President Academic, Vice-President Student Expereince & Wellbeing, Welfare Officer, Irish Language Officer, Thurles Officer, Union Council Chair, Student Activities Officer (Limerick), Student Activities Officer (Thurles), Postgraduate Officer and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Officer.
The Exec meets on a weekly basis throughout the year and is responsible for implementing MISU policy and decisions or working on issues that have been raised by the Class Representatives (Class Reps) at Union Council.
The Exec reports to and keeps Union Council informed of and up to date on the issues or campaigns which they are working on.
You can talk to your Exec about any issues or ideas which you have, you can ask them to work on something for you, or just find out about what they are up to.
